Dr. David DeBoer

Dr. David DeBoer is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. He co-founded Southern Joint Replacement Institute in 1999 along with Michael Christie, MD. Their goal was to create a practice that combined quality patient care with state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge research.

Dr. DeBoer’s medical education started and finished at Vanderbilt University, where he earned a medical doctorate and a master’s degree in biomedical engineering. After finishing his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Dr. DeBoer also completed a fellowship under Dr. Michael Christie at Vanderbilt.

Dr. DeBoer is the Joint Replacement Research Program Director for Sarah Cannon Research Institute. His research focuses on improving the outcome of joint replacement surgery and the biomechanics of the hip and knee joints. He is currently the chairman of the Clinical Best Practice Committee on Joint Replacement Surgery for the 180 hospitals in the HCA Healthcare network.
